ARTIST STATEMENT

My work investigates how pattern recognition shapes perception. I paint abstract patterned nets that resemble mosaics, cross-stitch, or pixelation, inspired by the metaphor of Indra’s Net. These “cognitive nets” explore how the mind connects fragmented information into images that suggest space, motion, or symbolic form. Each painting operates between illustration and abstraction, revealing how visual systems become mirrors of cognition itself.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Fresno, California

Lives in Sebastopol, California

Once upon a time,I grew up a poetry-writing farm boy in the Gold Country. Mostly misunderstood, always curious, and painfully perceptive, I always enjoyed skipping stones and deeply missed the ocean’s vast horizon line.

Then,I graduated with a fine arts degree from UC Davis and moved to Prague, Czech Republic, where I painted, curated, managed an art studio, organized an art group, and built a design portfolio.

Afterward, I moved to San Francisco, where I painted and curated a window gallery, hosted a weekly art salon tea party, and art directed and designed.

Next,
I moved to the Wine Country, where I started a family, painted, educated at Waldorf schools, facilitated workshops, UX designed, and researched.

Now,
I work remotely as a UX Designer, paint daily, visit the ocean often, and dig in my garden.
